We're a crime/mafia roleplay set in the present-day Chicago.

After bombing the harbour, the new gang in town, Enigma, all but declared war on the most powerful family in the city, the Bianchi Family. Police struggled to capture the culprits and were well on their way to build a solid case against the Bianchi, but their hard work was set back once the police department was bombed. Now, the war between the two sides is more heated than ever, and the casualties only tend to grow.

FullerPark. Southside of Chicago. The night of June 8th 2017.
<p>
One of the poorest areas in Chicago, FullerPark has been for many years under Bianchi influence and was until two years ago a strong point in their drug traffic. Many smaller gangs answered to Bianchi orders, and were paid decently for their efforts. The citizens in the area knew the trouble they could run in by staying there, but very few had and have the money to leave. Neither did they have the guts to riot and say something to free themselves from their misery. The PD's actions were not centralized in the area for reasons of silence and the attention drawn by other parts of Chicago that seemed more urgent to take care of at the time. When the Bianchi threaten everything you own, you usually learn to close your mouth before they decide your life is not worth it.<br>
But alas, much like a submarine in the ocean, silent and unseen, FullerPark's gangs started to grow a mind of their own, with their leaders creating coalitions and making the smallest of mice become the largest of wolf packs. People did not see an increase in violence, nor have they seen the groups actually grow to an alarming size. Even the Bianchi simply let things go after better deals came up elsewhere and the Southside gangs became unresponsive to their heeds. To the Bianchi, there were bigger fish in the ocean, Southside was no longer a hot spot for them to deal with.<br>
So once the Bianchi had no control over the mutts, it was easy to grow an influence of their own, until they judged ready the time to take the next step.
<p>
So on the night of June 8th 2017, they took action. The Bianchi no longer had any control there, they didn't care, and everyone was looking at other horizon, enjoying the peace the Italian Mafia and the Chicago Enigma gang left them with over the past few months. The streets of Southside became apocalyptic with the coming of the gangs, as they set fire to the cars, beckoned the citizens to stay in their houses; stained the walls with the paint from their spray cans - coloring the bricks and concrete floor with words of Anarchy - regurgitated their hatred of the Bianchi and Police, called Enigma incompetent and claimed the streets as their own. What they wanted was unclear, but in one night the streets of Southside were barred with cars, trash and anything solid that could serve as a wall, closing off that area of the city. Anyone inside was bound to stay, and anyone outside was bound to be an outcast.<p>
The Police Department received calls all night, and sent all they had as soon as they could. Cops died while trying to, at first, peacefully heed the gang members to cease their activities. Armed with Bianchi and Enigma weaponry, the gangs outnumbered the cops of Chicago who soon saw themselves forced to retreat and hold a distant ground, waiting.... for the right moment.
<p>
It's now been two days after Southside has been cut off from the world, threats to civilians inside were made if anyone were to try anything against them. But they requested nothing. They seemed to delight solely on the anarchy and apocalypse they had created. All communication with that side of the city has been cut off, and it is soon clear that the gangs have been preparing for this, for a long, long time. The news in Chicago blamed it all on the drug consumption, but experts of Chicago's crime had a more deep and psychological theory. Whichever was right, no one could tell for sure. A curfew had quickly been installed in the entire city. <p>
Everyone must be in their homes by <u>6PM until 7AM.</u> Anyone seen outside at that time without special authorization will be suspect to interrogation and arrested. The news broadcast is requesting anyone with information to come forward. If anyone has family on the other side, they are asked to keep faith in the city and be on the lookout for any news from them, as it could be the turning point of the situation.
<p>
The gangs walk the streets day and night, eager for a fight, trying to prove a point no one has yet been able to decipher....
<p>
------------
<p>
It is now up to you and your characters. What will they do? What do they think about it? Do they have a dear one in Southside they worry about day and night? Are they allying themselves with the Police, the Bianchi or Enigma? Everyone has interest in helping. The Police are doing their duty, Enigma wish for their leader's dear home to be freed, and the Bianchi have a promise to keep. Chicago's heart just became Southside, and each time it beats, it's everyone around who comes into motion.<p>

DISCLAIMER: We do suggest that you have a certain sense of disbelief regarding this prompt. In such a situation, much bigger forces like the Military, the FBI, and Special Forces would be summoned to aid the city. However in order to make this something interesting for everyone to rp, we thought it would be more interesting to set those to the side for now (justify their absence however you want!). This is the story of the people of Chicago, it's up to you guys. So have fun with it, be dramatic, entertain yourselves and others to make this memorable. The post is only here for informative purposes, all references to it should be made throughout the board in everyone's posts, as each char reacts.

Heeey lovelies~

If you haven't noticed, this is a new plotting subboard that's dedicated to brainstorming ideas with everyone. Here anyone can post a thread with an idea and other people can pitch in, add their own ideas, make something big out of something small.

Who knows, if the ideas are awesome and there are several people involved and excited about something, plots can even become group-specific or board-wide events.

And most of all, have fun making things more chaotic ;D

1. Sometimes Saints are Sinners
<p>
It started with an adventurer. A man who conquered life with a drink in hand and screaming about his opinions to anyone willing to listen. Not that he called himself that, adventurer, sounded fancy, like he was just out there for the fame and thrill, but it was a tittle he preferred over vagrant, like he heard some call him. He liked to help people, offer his aid to the lesser remembered peasants, but sometimes people… misunderstood his intentions, not his fault, he just had the habit of challenging the law for the greater good.
His name was Ryan, and he had no home or a specific goal. Some said he was just a freeloader and a chaos bringer, taking people’s generosity and abusing it with tricks and deceit. Others said he was a good man with an odd habit of collecting strays on his way. He agreed he was both. He heard somewhere that sometimes saints are also sinners, and you need to destroy before creating something new creation and destruction, do good things but not always by the good means sounded about right for him. Though he preferred the term family for his strays, his own little family that he built himself from the ground up.
<p>
Of all his strays, he found his little gem first. Ruby, who had suffered in life and found herself so lost and with no perspective in life. When Ryan heard her story all he wanted to do was to protect her and give her all the love she never had. She was wary and fought like a well-trained assassin, she acted like a war machine who didn’t know how to love, so naturally Ryan felt she needed to be coddled and loved, that he needed to be her family, a proper brother figure.
<p>
They wondered from place to place, Ryan with his penchant for wanting to help peasant’s needs and Ruby as his shadow who did what he asked as if he was giving orders, the two of them being heroes for hiring of sorts and Ryan was okay with that, travelling with company was better than alone, after all.
<p>
And then in a summer day, they found the stray noble, with his posh attitude that mislead you into thinking he was just a heartless bureaucrat. Ryan never got the full story how a well-bred noble had ended up in the wilds, away from any and all comfort of his family’s wealth. But Tony was cheerful, his heart was in the right place, even if he seemed to have a soft spot for every lady he met. Honestly, even if Ryan usually didn’t care for high born people, he had a soft spot for the guy. Tony was supposed to stick with then until they reached the Red Desert, but then the got turned around, got delayed half a dozen times, and by the time they got to the Red Desert everyone had grown attached to each other and the boy decided to stay.
<p>
Tony one day brought them a lady blacksmith, asking if she could go with them. At first Ryan thought it was one more of his conquests and the refusal was at the tip of his tongue, but the girl was scared and wanted to help with running away. “Just until Venerburg, the next town over!” She said nervously, like she’d be lost if Ryan refused. He had always had a soft spot for distressed people who looked defenseless, so Ryan didn’t have to think too much before he accepted. They got to the town, but whoever was after Vienne found her in Venerburg and she followed along to the next town, and then the next, and then the next, and eventually everyone just accepted she wouldn’t leave them anytime soon. Tony seemed incredibly happy about that.
<p>
Last but not least there was Estrella, or Stella as she was usually called, a star, Ryan liked to say. She heard about Ryan and his group before she met them, and one day just plain asked if she could go with them. At first Ryan didn’t take her seriously, but she was insistent, followed their group through the icy mountains and almost froze herself to death. Ryan offered her a place around their fire pit, put his bear pelt over her shoulders and Stella never left.
<p>
----
<p>
There was once a kingdom. A kingdom lost in the mountains, so small many would not classify it as a proper kingdom. It had once been prosperous, not exactly big, but respectfully wealthy. As any kingdom, this one had a royal family, or more specifically, Queen Delilah and her two siblings. It wasn’t a paradise city, with green grass and pretty girls smiling at whoever passed. No, it was a place that suffered with famine and disease alike, the people were gaunt with glassy eyes and a distrustful attitude.
<p>
Under polite company, no one dared to speak ill of the queen, but under the right circumstance you might hear whispers carried by the wind. It was said the queen was the cause of the suffering, that her greedy actions were the kingdom’s downfall, that once they had been mighty and rich, but Queen Delilah and her family had brought the fury of the gods and now they suffered. Rebellions stirred every once in a while, but for all of the kingdom’s problems, one thing it had were good guards, led by Prince Shaun, the queen’s brother, the guards were loyal to the crown and squashed any whispers of rebellion with ruthlessness.
<p>
People were afraid and hopeless, no one dared to stand up for themselves, and that was the situation Ryan and his group found. The atmosphere was so thick with distrust and no one even seen to want Ryan there, much less his help, the plan was to just resupply and leave a few days later, he couldn’t help who didn’t want help and he’d rather stay away from political struggles. If only Ruby hadn’t found the rebellious guard.
<p>
The guard’s name was Jacob, he was as distrustful as anyone in that kingdom, at first only accepting to talk to Ruby, but in the course of a week, she slowly convinced him they all could help with the queen situation if only he would meet Ryan, the leader. And thus a revolution in the small kingdom was born, and through the shadows they plotted, Guardsman Jacob sharing every detail he knew that could be useful, he could be tried for high treason for that alone, but at that point he was beyond caring.
<p>
Somehow word reached Prince Shaun, and through him, the Queen’s ears. But she didn’t take things seriously until her sister became the first rebel victory, one that Ryan didn’t exactly approve, but knew it was necessary to drive people forward. The young woman, known for her explosive temper and cruelty, fell in the hands of an angry mob that was gathering in front of the castle once the queen refused to hear the people’s petitions for what probably was the 100th time. They were armed with farm equipment and dull stone axes, not particularly impressive, but the emotion that drove the people to rage more than made up for lack of weaponry.
<p>
The result wasn’t pretty, and it was a mercy that the queen’s sister died only three days later instead of suffering for the rest of her life, half of her group of guards didn’t have the same luck. All-out war was the result of that attack, people fought and people died for their right to live, Ryan watched good honest people be displayed as a horror show, bloody and beaten, rotting in the sun as a warning to anyone who dared to stand against Queen Delilah. It was a bunch of peasants, poorly armed at most, against the queen and the city guards, a massacre waiting to happen to anyone who looked.
<p>
Ryan didn’t accept those odds however, they didn’t have brute force, but they had cleverness, a larger number and sheer willpower. The town wasn’t his, but he raised these people to fight and he would damn well see the end of it. Vienne turned out to be not only good at making weapons and armor, but she also knew how to make things explode, bombs made out of science, Ryan called them. And with Jacob’s knowledge of the city’s inner workings and how the guards behaved, the rebels slowly gained ground, but at the price of many lives.
<p>
It was one of Ryan’s regrets, how things got out of control so quickly and there was more death and destruction than he ever anticipated. He almost lost Tony to this, Ryan saw the noble-born man, who had only held a sword for training exercises, get impaled by Prince Shaun.
<p>
And then the Queen called for a truce. Much to people’s suspicious, but she demanded to speak with Ryan. He went, more wary and curious than any desire to make peace with a tyrant. Queen Delilah asked many questions, most of all why would someone who didn’t even live there put so much at stake for people he had never met before. Idealistic idiot and a terrorist, that’s what she called him, not appearing to understand Ryan’s motivations, or maybe she didn’t want to understand. But, Ryan admitted that perhaps there could be peace, if only they talked some more, perhaps the people didn’t have to die nor suffer at the queen’s hands.
<p>
The two of them had been so close to an understanding, so close to a peaceful resolution and accepting each other’s arguments that the way things were going would just bring more death and destruction, so close to her asking him to help her rule but… In the end the angry mob couldn’t be pacified, they wanted blood, they didn’t listen to Ryan’s arguments and he had been forced to drive his sword through Delilah’s chest, the people urging him to end this era of suffering by ending the one they blamed for their misfortune. The queen fell, but she was smiling though, he would remember for years to come the serene expression on the woman’s face as she closed her eyes and breathed for the last time.
<p>
---
<p>
Ryan insisted the Queen had a dignified funeral, she was put to rest along with the kingdom’s previous rulers and give all the honor a royal deserved, it was the least he could do. What was left was a destroyed kingdom that had no ruler, way too many people to bury and ruins where once stood buildings. Ryan couldn’t leave now, couldn’t disrupt an entire society and leave them to their fate. So he urged people to start rebuilding, putting his four trusted friends in charge of smaller coordination groups… or maybe five friends, since Jacob didn’t seem willing to let Ruby go, and expressed his wish to follow along with them more than once.<p>

Rebuilding a city turned out to be not easy at all. It required resources and someone to make the people work together instead of against each other. The latter was insanely more difficult than the former, Ryan soon discovered. But slowly the kingdom was rebuilt, first vital buildings and houses, then historical ones, the castle was left for last, as there was no royals to occupy it as the queen’s brother was nowhere to be seen and was presumed dead. Months passed, then a year, two years and seven months, that was how long it took for the city to recover, and on the final days, Ryan was already preparing to gather his things and leave, and told his group to do the same.<p>

But there was something about them, everyone acting shifty as if they wanted to tell Ryan something but couldn’t gather the courage to do so. It was strange, no one ever hesitated to tell him anything that crossed their minds, so one evening Ryan cornered Ruby and Jacob. “What’s it you’re not telling me?” He asked and Jacob started to look to his sides in that way he did when he wanted to sneak away, but Ryan didn’t allow him. “Spit it out, I ain’t gonna bite.”
<p>
It was Ruby who spoke, after she shot a look at Jacob. “These people need you, Ryan. We can’t leave.” She said earnest, and when it looked like Ryan was going to protest she added. “We’ve been helping them for over two and a half years, you’ve seen how these people are, they need a leader. You can’t tell me leaving these people to kill each other and fight over small patches of land is the right thing to do.”
<p>
Ryan scoffed. “What are you suggesting? That I become King, that’s ridiculous, I’m not a noble, much less royalty.” But he knew Ruby was right, the people here were… passionate, to say the least, took what they wanted and didn’t care about their neighbor. Years of everyone needing to fight to survive instilled an every man for themselves type of culture. “I’m not king material and an outsider can’t be crowned, that’s not how things work, Ruby. They’ll have to figure things out themselves.” He knew if he insisted, his people would come with him, Ruby would come with him, leave this place for good. She might be mad for a bit, but she wouldn’t leave him.
<p>
“Actually…” Jacob spoke, raising his hand as if he was a boy still learning his letters who needed to ask the lecturer a question. “Technically you already are the king, the people certainly treat you as such. They are just waiting for the official crowning, and everyone thought it was just a matter of the kingdom to be rebuilt a little.” He said as if should be obvious, but he saw the clueless expression both Ruby and Ryan shot him, he explained. “There’s a law, older than dirt, nobody is sure who passed it, but it says whoever kills the current monarch inherit the crown. It’s how Queen Delilah got to power, and the queen before her, and most everyone before. Ever wonder why everyone was so eager that you be the one to deliver the killing blow? The people wanted this.”
<p>
Ryan later confirmed with the other native people, they indeed thought of Ryan as their new king, every single one looked surprised to hear he had no clue of that. His first gut reaction was to pack even faster, grab his friends and hightail out of that town. He wasn’t king material, he was a vagrant who caused trouble and somehow helped people along the way, he never signed up for kingship, he hated nobles!
<p>
“Some would say that’s the best quality for a king” Vienne said when he loudly pointed that out. There they were, the six of them, in the house Ryan had been living while he stayed in this town. They were discussing this king business, and apparently while he wasn’t looking everyone decided it would be a good idea… well, everyone except Jacob, but Ryan suspected the man only wanted to leave, people still glared at him sometimes, for the work he did under Delilah’s orders.
<p>
It took a lot of persuasion, some yelling, getting Ryan drunk, more yelling, a few broken bottles and a trip to the town physician, but finally, finally Ryan said “Okay… I’ll try... king, me. You guys are crazy, this won’t end well” It was as close as anyone would get from a yes, but who said ‘I’ll try’ to being king? His closest friends knew Ryan would do his very best. Everyone looked way more happy they should, in Ryan’s opinion, except Jacob, who again, just looked a bit disappointed.
<p>
A week after Ryan’s decision, a ceremony was organized. People from every corner of the kingdom gathered inside the castle, and the ones who couldn’t fit in stayed outside in the courtyard. It was all very simple, Ryan did a small speech in which took the opportunity to point out if things went sour everyone in that room was to blame, but the people were happy, they genuinely though Ryan would be a good king, and between Ruby, Tony, Stella, Vienne and even Jacob, they all agreed.
<p>
The coronation was full of pomp, done by the town’s cleric. What surprised Ryan was that Vienne was the one who brought crown, and it wasn’t Delilah’s crown, it was something else. Expertly made, the gold shone like new and the large ruby in the middle was well polished. It had a winged design at the front. The blacksmith smiled proudly, showing the crown to the crowd and Ryan knew at that moment that Vee had crafted that piece especially for him. Ryan knelt in front of the cleric and the crown was placed on top of his head, it was a perfect fit. He swore on his honor and on his life that while he remained king, he would protect the city, the kingdom, and more importantly, its people.
He would be lying if he said he didn’t mean every word.
<p>
And thus, the forgotten kingdom flourished, it grew and it multiplied. More houses were built, more people settled and neighboring kingdoms wished to trade. Ryan would never say it had been easy, but he had his friends, each helping in an strategic spot to help keep the order and peace, he was stubborn and fair, and his heart never forgot what he stood for, the peasants, the less privileged, and for the first time in his life Ryan felt he was making more of a difference than one person here and there.
<p>
He could look down at his kingdom, to see the sun rise over it and think “I did good.”

<b>Wesbrook Farm:</b><br> The legend of this farm started in the 1850s. It started out as a small foot note of the community, hundreds of men, women, and children disappearing from the surrounding towns. They couldn’t exactly figure out where they were all going, at least not for many years. It was nearly sixty years later that the experimental nature of this farm was exposed to the general public. The testing was unbearable, barbaric, to say the least.
<br><br>
Upon exposing the true nature of Westbrook Farms the government shut it down and vowed to never allow another soul to step foot onto the property. They didn’t wish to expose anyone to what lied underneath. Over time, the horrific nature of the property seemed to disappear into a foot note of the lovely area’s true splendor. The government eventually sold the farm, and nothing was ever said about it, at least, until the moans began to echo once more, causing brave adventurers to come explore the cause of the disappearing people once more.<p>
<b>1) the maze</b><br><center><img src="https://i.imgbox.com/RtWC9wdR.jpg"></center> Near the center of the farm there is a large corn maze. The maze itself seems rather innocent, however, the man selling you the tickets, well, there seems to be something off about him. A scarf tied around his neck, and wild blood shot eyes. Still, for $5 a person and free for kids under 10, you can enter the corn maze and explore the area. Though, it should be noted, the undead laying within the maze eating the inhabitance should be disregarded completely.

<p><b>2) the food tents</b><br><center><img src="https://i.imgbox.com/f5IEiyKZ.jpg"></center> Just like everywhere, there is a food area with all your funfair food and drinks (hot dogs, hamburgers, pumpking pies, punch ect) anything you want, you can get. No questions asked. The workers all seem to have bandaged on their bodies somewhere. Some are whispering about bites they suffered from their guests in the house. However, as you approach them, they quickly change their soft chatter about the people in the maze to a smiling demeanor with a happy glow about them. It’s strange, isn’t it?
<p>
<b>3) the haunted house</b><br><center><img src="https://i.imgbox.com/tGRJyl4b.jpg"></center> The farm house has been remodeled, at least that’s the rumor. The basic floors of the house have a chilly feel to them, nothing too amazing, but there is that strange door leading to the basement with a large sign plastered on it saying “do not enter”. Only the bravest would actually enter the house’s basement to discover what laid underneath.
<br><br>
In the basement, there is a lab set up with screens monitoring what appears to be everything, the food tents, the maze in different corners, where you can see swaying people moving back and forth. Three cameras seem to be all fuzz, but the rest show empty cells. It’s the strangest thing, for those that find the door within the basement to go down yet another level, they will be faced with a complex system of rooms and equipment. There is an eerie feel here. Things are being knocked over, and there is a soft hissing and moaning from almost everywhere.
<br><br>
The groans soon become sightings of something moving in the corners, a ghost visage that seems to come and go, some look like scientists, and some look like patients, being chained to operating tables. Though, if you look too deep, you will end up face to face to a shambling undead creature. Just in time for your own body to shape and morph into something, one would hope, that would be more suitable to surviving something a bit deadly.

<b>become your costume</b><br> It’s a well known fact that most places around the United States get a little crazy around Halloween. Devil’s night going into full swing, people running around looking for candy, and Chicago is no different. Though this year something seems different, people feel strange, suddenly some people thirst for blood while others hunger for brains, no one is quite sure how it came to be, only that this crime ridden city suddenly has a whole new kind of danger.
<p>
<b>the breakdown</b><br><u><h3>Characters:</h3></u> Each character signed up will be trapped in the Wesbrook Farm, in the outskirts of Chiacago for a total of 1 night, the Halloween night to be exact. The characters will become their costumes. If you were dressed as a vampire, then a vampire you shall become, if you dress as Batman then Batman is what you shall be. Each person can sign up as many of their characters as they want, but they must keep them active in the event.
<br><u><h3>Private Threads:</h3></u> You can have as many of these as you wish. One, ten, twenty, it doesn’t matter. Just try and keep up and remember to have a good time!
<br><u><h3>Creating Threads:</h3></u> This is where all the updates about scenery are done. Over the course of the event there will be "updates" to indicate a second stage to the event. Any thread made after the "update" HAS to use the updated information. If you are in a thread and the "update" happens you may use it or mention it as happening in the background, whichever you choose.

<p><b>posting rules</b><br>To keep things moving we want everyone to post and keep posting. This means that everyone is required to post at least once a week. The event starts on <b>october 13th</b> and won't be here forever, so don't let your thread(s) gather dust!
<br><u><h3>Timeline:</h3></u> To keep things crazy, we will say this event is mostly AU, so anything that happens, any injuries or deaths, they will not be part of the site's lore. However, you can discuss with your partner if want to make some new interaction or plot point canon as longs as they don't break the game by having supernatural powers. If anything, you can say the crazyness was due to someone spicying the punch.
<br><u><h3>Partner Randomizer:</h3></u> You get the chance to have a partner and a random location assigned to you for a thread or more, if you're not sure who to post with or if you're having trouble thinking of something. Though can you still have as many private threads/other threads as you wish, as the randomizer is just our way to help you write.
<br><u><h3>Private Threads:</h3></u> These can move at any pace. Please keep in mind however, that these threads do have to keep moving. We suggest that you post frequently so they don't get abandoned and you don't miss the event.
<br><u><h3>Posting Areas:</h3></u> There will be three main posting areas for this thread. The first being The Corn Maze, where all the running around happens. The next will be The Food Tent, for all your dining needs (yes this does include a blood tent for you vampires). Then finally The Haunted House, for all your scaring needs. Three great places to get to know people and enjoy their time in and around the fair.
<br><u><h3>Labeling:</h3></u> Please label your threads either "Maze" "Tents" "House", in the thread's description or title. This makes it easier for the staff to add a little flair to your individual posts (people fighting, arguments, inappropriate couples, ect.)
<br><u><h3>Tagging:</h3></u> If you want an admin to run NPCs (such as zombies, werewolves, food people, anyone that might be at the event) in your thread(s) you must tag them there using the tag system. So please tag either EuLass or Ina.
<p>
