We're a crime/mafia roleplay set in the present-day Chicago.

After bombing the harbour, the new gang in town, Enigma, all but declared war on the most powerful family in the city, the Bianchi Family. Police struggled to capture the culprits and were well on their way to build a solid case against the Bianchi, but their hard work was set back once the police department was bombed. Now, the war between the two sides is more heated than ever, and the casualties only tend to grow.

DELILAH BIANCHI

Pull the Plug
Putting family in the ground since I exist
When she came out of the black car, it felt like all the eyes were turned towards her, observing her every move, ready to jump on conclusions about how she felt or what she was planning. It seemed that being the leader of a mafia who's known for her lack of weak emotions couldn't take a break when she finally wanted to be human. But it seemed that she always had to keep her head high in all moment, show the right emotion when it was needed and behave like the feared Godmother she was. It had taken a great deal of effort and arrangements to make sure they could keep the journalists away today, even if that required to keep a low profile and not bring too many bodyguards to protect those who attended her Brother's Funeral.

It had taken them a while to come to the decision of 'pulling the plug' on Shaun, and perhaps strangely enough, Delilah was the one with the most restrain towards that action. Of course her brother had been diagnosed with a coma beyond salvage, since he had stayed in it for too long with wounds that couldn't and won't heal. The way he was shot had damaged part of his brain. Not enough to kill him because of how quick they were to act on the matter, but just enough to permanently cripple him. Delilah, along with Roxanne, had been explained in detail the results of such crippling wounds, and the more they heard about it, the more they knew it wasn't an option. Would Shaun hate to live differently from before? Crippled in mind and motion without being able to speak correctly and being constantly tortured? He wasn't going to sit in a wheelchair all day and operate the mafia from there, no if the crippling was that forgiving then he would still be alive. No, the nature of his crippling was far more painful for others to witness and to Delilah's mind, it wasn't worth living.

Coming to the decision of ending their own brother's life, and keeping in their heart that Enigma was responsible for his death. That Ryan was responsible for his death.... She regretted now more than ever to have left the man go without torturing him more, crippling him further of his hand and never choosing to end his life because it would be such a sweet and easy ending for him would it be not? Mercy for her brother was all she gave when she gave permission to the hospital staff to put him to sleep for good. One life had ended, but none other started. Only this war continued without the sight of a cease fire. The only sense of peace lurking today was that truce Delilah exchanged with Enigma, mainly to deal with her own grief while she could and recollect her family, gather the pieces back together to make her dear Mafia stronger.

So now here she was, with what was left of her family, listening to the laments of one or two people and the preaching of the priest. Strangely enough, there weren't many tears rolling down cheeks. The ones Delilah had to give already left her when no one was watching and she knew ROXANNE BIANCHI wasn't one to cry in front of crowds either. Perhaps this will bring them both closer, since the need to make this family stronger only climbed more and more each day. The last male representative of her bloodline was dead, which meant she no longer had any leverage on that matter. Things would be harder now for her and Roxanne than ever before, but she trusted that they could make something of it.

All those thoughts coursing her mind as she barely paid attention to the priest's preaching, her face as cold as stone as her eyes looked at her brother's closed coffin, covered in flowers. She was so deep in her own thoughts that when it was time to say a word, it took a few times of calling for her before she snapped out of it and looked up from the coffin. "I do not wish to speak for you. My brother cannot hear me and the living should have known him if they are all so eager to know what he did right in this life." she spoke coldly before letting others speak after her if they only dared to.

The rest of the ceremony went simply. They were all standing outside in the graveyard, ready to put Shaun in the dirt next to their father. Why her father didn't want to be brought back to Italy was beyond her, but it was always Shaun's wish to lay beside him. The coffin will be put in the dirt later in the evening, so it gave the time for Delilah and other people to have some closure. No symbolic decent of the grave into the hole, in fact the Godmother didn't even want to see it being done. The only reason why she was going to watch the action, was to make sure no one would attempt to hurt her brother, even in the afterlife.

It was then, when she stood in her formal and sober black dress, staring at her father's tombstone, tall and magnificent, strong and elevated even in death that she heard it. The clear sound of a shooting gun, strong and echoing from how far it was. The seconds couldn't be counted between the sound and the impact upon her brother's picture. A bull's eye into the man's picture, sitting there next to her father's own, under the shadow of the tombstone. Delilah froze, staring at the clear hole in the picture. From the shooting's sound, even if she turned around she won't be able to see the sniper. A damn good shooter, who may or may not have missed their shot. And for a second she almost regretted that they didn't target her or didn't miss. But she didn't need to turn around to know who shot and why. A small smile met her lips, a nervous reaction perhaps while no one could see her face as she was turned to the tombstones. But that little nervous reaction did not last long.

She didn't move, slowly boiling inside at the knowledge that Enigma could have the balls to provoke her this way, putting an end to the truce by shooting at her brother's funeral. They were getting bolder and this was just a provocation while they could have shot her directly. This was all a game, and intricate one filled with pride. While the people checked on her, panicking at the idea that she could have been wounded, she could only think of Enigma and how bold they were. They won't be bold for long, that was a certainty....

Later at the Bianchi Manor, the family reunites in the living room to talk about what happened. Any Bianchi is welcome to join in.

Well it's midnight, damn right, we're wound up too tight I've got a fist full of whiskey, the bottle just bit me.

ADIANO BIANCHI

There was a sombre air to the ceremony in which Shaun was placed in the ground. Adiano wore a pair of dark sunglasses, to hide the fact that he was not in mourning, for he could see their pain but could not feel it.

Adiano donned his three piece suit, standing around, face pinched with feigned sorrow. At that single moment, he thought how hard it must be for Delilah and how much harder it was going to get.

It was not the moment to speak up about wanting to see whether he was back on the good side. He had learned sensitive moments were to be preserved and not rushed. Adiano stood among the other Bianchi members as it progressed, flinching as a gunshot echoed around them. That was unexpected. He took in what was happening, with a couple of screams and frazzled Bianchi members with interest.

As the ceremony came to a close, Adiano got back into his car, taking it back to the Bianchi mansion.

He had not visited since the night where he had gotten absolutely hammered and almost broke the coffee machine, because it was fun. Once he had parked up, he cut the engine, walking back into the mansion, tie slightly askew as he pushed open the doors and headed straight for the main room.

BIANCA BIANCHI

This was such a sad day for the Bianchi family, it brought Bianca to tears. Everyone was dressed in black, more specifically, only some people were truly dressed in full black. Others were such a fashion disaster, different shades of black, ties that didnt match their ugly and visible socks...Bianca could barely accept to be here as the only properly dressed figure (save for a few rafined individuals such as the ones carrying the Bianchi last name). She heard someone got a plug pulled or something, though sadly she didnt quite know what that meant, so she just tagged along with the mass of poorly, yet posh, dressed Bianchi people. Maybe there would be food somewhere too.

It soon turned out to be some sort of funeral?? Which confused her, but then when low soldiers came to tell her their condoleances about Shaun, she realized she hadnt seen him in a while. Honestly she thought he was away on business, or moved in at his brothel, but he was dead apparently? This was so messy, when did this happen? Did no one bother to tell her? Oh well. Maybe she could call dibs on his room and use it as a wardrobe.

Her zoning out moment was perturbed by the single shot, which came straight towards the picture on Shaun's grave. It made people freak out, some coward in terror, others look around distressed, guards even drew their weapons, but soon enough it turned out to be just some sort of warning. Bianca might have screamed the loudest, and pushed some granny down by accident while flailing her arms.

Back at the mansion, everyone seemed to keep their strong mask on, while Bianca was checking her mascara (from her scared tears from a couple of minutes ago) in case it dripped but luckily it was waterproof for a reason. She saw Delilah and Adiano, and wished to express her deepest condoleances as others called them. So she looked for the nearest relative and went to hug them, fake sobbing softly. "He'll be missed." She'd pat them on the back and wipe her tears away with a basic valley girl mannerism.

We are the jack-o-lanterns in July setting fire to the sky

ROXANNE BIANCHI

no rest for the wicked
tag: everyone, clothes here: polyvore
Three woman left besides the grave of Shaun - Delilah, Roxanne and Rose in her arms, shivering in autumn wind. And wolves, wolves around them - mafia families that showed up to pay respects and their own family - expressing sadness where they felt none. Roxanne was not too sad about Shaun dying as a brother, he was never there for her to be mourned properly from her side. What really upset Roxanne was the instability they were left in. They snickered behind their back and laughed, calling Bianchi woman la Bella mafia - beautiful mafia, mafia that was powerless.

There was so much anger in Roxanne and she had hard time leashing it. And if only Delilah would see how much her sister could do if her hands were untied and her power increased. She was angry at Delilah for a lot of reasons and the newest one were news that Delilah had Enigma in her hand and let them go. Roxanne wanted to wipe them out, those dirty rats that imagined raising hand at Bianchi. There should have been no mercy.

And still she left those emotions for later time. At this point as any good Italian daughter she stood besides her sister without any facial expressions and thought about all the things that were done wrong and should be fixed - enigma wiped out, bodyguard count increased (she did not understand her sister's fashion to reduce them, she herself had all her bodyguards with her) , new dress bought and some charity organized in her brother's name. There were lot of things to be done now that Shaun was dead and his killers walked freely while her sister had no stamina to end them.

And she was worried about Delilah as well. Shaun was part of Delilah as Delilah was part of him. Roxanne could never comfort her sister as she was not him. She did not understand her siblings but she knew that his passing was definitely not a good time for Delilah. And as much as Roxanne would deny it, she still needed Delilah - they had to stay together and be united if they wanted to survive the harsh winter.

And there was also Oliver on top of her mind. As always. And it pained her that flashbacks brought her back to him hugging her in comforting manner, kissing her tears away and making her laugh in sadness. So she caressed calmly her daughters back and tried to hide her pain away.

What surprised Roxanne was how Delilah spoke her farewell to brother. Delilah was the embodiment of good manners, this felt out of character for her. But it also indicated how dangerous was this situation when Delilah threw fits and Roxanne was the one to pick up things after her sister. But it was important to unite not to push people away, show that family was still strong, Bella mafia was here and not going anywhere. She spoke shortly after Delilah: "My brother was challenging person and now he is gone but his will still lives through his sisters and his niece. Thank you for all who came to honor his memory. According to his wishes and life passion we will soon open wildlife charity fund named after him. That's what Shaun always wanted to but never got to do. Thank you once more for your prayers." She almost added that sorrow has made Delilah loose her mind but luckily resisted the urge.

And it all fucking happened in seconds - the gun shot that was as far from Delilah as it was from her and her daughter. She drew her daughter into the hug and hid her head under her body, ducking herself and running for the cover. As soon as she was in cover, she screamed at bodyguards to get her sister inside.

Later at manor first thing Delilah heard from Roxanne was "I'm adding more guards to this mansion. I'll instruct Mark to review security and increase body count." And with that she meant that at this point she did not trust Delilah to protect herself and wanted to take mansion security under her watch. She had to protect her sister even if she apparently didn't want to be protected. "And I want to talk with that person who thought it's a good idea to have almost no bodyguards for you at open field funeral." and with that she meant that she wanted to shoot that idiot who was responsible for Delilah's security. This was unacceptable. They had to go back to normal setup where Roxanne was reckless one and Delilah - the one scolding her.

OOC: Charlie Moretti - this is a good point where to get some promotions; ASTRID O'HARA - Roxanne had daughter with her at funeral but later in manor Rose has gone to her rooms, Astrid can hang around family if she wants to.

JOV GOLD

“Jesus, Frank. What the fuck are you wearing?”

Frank shrugged and shoved his hands into his pockets, glaring back at Jov as if it was his fault. “What? It's black.”

“It's a fucking hoodie, you dick. We already have to go to this thing not knowing anyone and you've got to look like an asshole?” The grimace of Frank's face told Jov that his fellow dealer was not going to go change. Jov didn't even bother pointing out he had on a pair of blue jeans.

“You've got a hat on,” Frank pointed out.

“I can take the hat off before I get out of the god damn car,” Jov shot back. “Fuck, don't stand near me or Tee when we get there.”

“Fuck you, Knox,” Frank growled, folding his arms and pouting like a little girl in the back seat.

“Why the fuck are we going to this thing anyways?” Tee asked, sitting in the passenger seat. At least he was wearing a suit, even if it was navy and the arms were too short. The skinny bastard probably bought it out back of some department store for cheap.

“Because Derek's a dickhead,” Jov said. “And too much of a pussy to come himself after his card game got robbed last week. Someone has to go.”

“Why though?” Tee asked again. “No one is even going to know our names, and we ain't like the 39ers with fuckin' face tattoos. What if we get fuckin' shot cause no one knows us.”

“We won't get shot,” Jov said, driving the car a little too fast towards the cemetery. I hope.

* * * *

Jov took a deep breath through his nose and looked around. It was the most awkward funeral he had ever seen. Half of the crowd were dressed up and he was thankful he had bothered to do so as well, even if his suit wasn't luxury at least it was black and it fit. He was surprised the other half were closer to Frank's dress code though – thugs and gangs from around the city had sent representatives to the Bianchi funeral to pay homage to their overlords.

“You ever seen them before?” Tee whispered to Jov, nodding towards the Bianchi's.

Jov shook his head lightly. The ceremony was moving quickly even if it was somber. No one here was going to stand on religious ceremony, considering they were probably all going to hell anyways. “Look at her,” Jov murmered out of the side of his mouth to his skinny friend. “She's got tits for fuckin' days.” One thing he had never expected was how stacked the head of the Bianchi family was. A few lyric ideas floated through his head, looking at a dangerous, curvy woman like that – not that he would ever us them.

He didn't want to die in a fire, after all.

“You think they're bigger than Kandi's, over at the Pink Canyon?” Tee muttered back.

“No clue,” Jov replied, quirking an eyebrow as he tried to judge from across the funeral if-

BANG

Jov hit the ground, hands scrambling at the back of his waist under his suit jacket and pulling out his piece. It wasn't much, just a stubby revolver, but it was better than nothing. People were scattering, a few women screaming and men shouting. Jov shoved Tee off of him and stood up into a crouch, looking around for where the shot had come from. He met Frank's eyes about a dozen yards away – for all that the guy was an idiot, Jov trusted him with his life in a shootout or a street fight.

A glance around showed that most of the Bianchi family was being rushed away by their bodyguards, all except for one. Delilah, standing and staring the the picture of her brother, at the bullet hole in his face. For all the Bianchi gunmen in the crowd, the hardened gangsters and dealers, no one seemed to be thinking about their boss.

Jov motioned with his hand to Frank and his friend looked in Delilah's direction before looking back at him. Are you crazy? Jov shrugged and moved towards the Bianchi boss, leaving Tee and converging with Frank before they stepped to either side of the woman, both of them with their backs to her and looking for threats. Jov took one look at her face before facing out, at the cold rage in her eyes – he wasn't likely to make a tit comment about her again. He'd never seen anything like that look in her eye.

It wasn't more than another half dozen seconds before other men stepped forward – well dressed and well armed, they had been at the perimeter of the gathering watching for danger rather than standing next to their boss. No one had been expecting a sniper. One of them, his face marred by a scar and eyes hidden by dark sunglasses, gave Jov a single nod of approval as he stood with his revolver held in both hands but lowered. Someone, a woman, was yelling for Delilah to be taken into cover. The bodyguards encircled Delilah and one of them spoke to her, somehow getting her moving, and Jov found himself and Frank getting swept along as part of the bodyguard group.

They approached a blacked-out SUV and one of the bodyguards motioned Jov and Frank towards the trunk. “Who are you two?” he asked.

“Knox, and Frank,” Jov said, thumb to his chest then pointing to Frank. “We're Southie.”

The bodyguard grunted and opened the trunk, lifting the base and pulling a pair of wicked-looking black shotguns and handing them to Jov and Frank. He shut the compartment, which held several more high-powered weapons, then motioned Jov and Frank in. They climbed into the trunk, sitting across from each other and trying not to point their shotguns at each other, and the bodyguard slammed the trunk shut. A moment later the SUV peeled away.

Frank looked at Jov with a What the fuck is going on? expression, and all Jov could do was shrug.

* * * *

Jov shuffled in place for a moment and swallowed. He could feel the drop of sweat slowly crawling down his spine. This had gone way, way too far now and he was feeling well out of his depth. Not an hour ago he'd been picking up Frank, who was now standing outside the Bianchi manor along with a half dozen other guards at the front door.

Because of nothing more than the fact that he had worn a suit, Jov was standing inside the manor. Inside the fucking living room, like a piece of heavily armed furniture along the wall. Bookshelf, lamp, canape table, Jov with a shotgun, fancy chair, another lamp.

He was in the same room as the real, flesh and bone Bianchi family. Jov swallowed again, trying to keep his nervousness hidden and his face passive. He was a fucking British guard with those funny hats. He was a statue. He needed to pee and was afraid to draw attention to himself by asking where a washroom was.

Jov was in way, way too deep.

OOC Edit: Since some people have read it differently, to clarify my intention was that Frank the NPC is wearing the hoodie and is now stationed outside the building. Jov is wearing a black suit and is inside the building.

"All my friends are heathens - take it slow. Wait for them to ask me who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves. You don't know the half of the abuse"

DARIO DELL'CIELO

This somber day felt eerily like the funerals that Dario had been to recently. Unfortunately, the most recent that he had gone to just so happened to be the one of his late father. There were definitely feelings there that the young Dell'Cielo heir was still having a difficult time unwrapping but there was no need to show that in public. The dark atmosphere, the people, the fact that they were in a public setting, it all made for Dario having to keep his professional face on.

He wore a suitable outfit, complete with a briefcase full of documentation in case Delilah had him dismember someone politically. Usually, if he had to negotiate, it meant that things were going horribly wrong and today was the last day that they wanted anything to happen. He was calmly watching as the tigress of the Bianchi family spoke a few words.

The gunshot was out of nowhere and Dario's immediate reaction was to look in Delilah's direction. Her security turned into a nice little morass of worker ants protecting the queen and he stepped in their direction, simply watching to make sure that nobody else got a shot off. If they did, the bodyguards were the blockers with their bulletproof vests and beefy shoulders. Hopefully none of that damn expensive clothing got nicked, though. He knew how much of a bitch it was to get a rip like that repaired.

The heir glanced towards Delilah. Typical. Not a single reaction in a way that would deem weak by others. She was clearly made of steel and if there was anything that Dario admired about this family, it was their cold ability to rule and stay steadfast. Other members, on the other hand, were not so calm and collected. He definitely saw a few heads about to pop and roll off, particularly a certain redhead nearby.

Okay, whoever the asshole with the hoodie was, seriously? A hoodie? To a funeral? He rolled his eyes when he saw that. Clearly, some people had no class. He was almost hoping that bullet had struck the idiot with the hoodie instead of going through the picture. It would have been less of a waste of a shot. But it was concerning that Enigma was coming on this strongly.

Dario also noticed a screaming little brunette who seemed to be all too concerned about her own well-being. Her face was one that was unmistakable - Bianca, he believed was the name. All body, no brain. Or so he was told. He had yet to meet her, though he really hoped that she wasn't the definition of the airhead that everyone proclaimed her to be.

At least, proclaimed where she couldn't hear.

---

They were surrounding the family, giving pats on the back and comforting words. Whispers of comfort were not something that Dario thought would be useful in this situation but he did so anyway. When the time came to hug Delilah, he gave her the kisses to her cheek as was customary back home in Italy and spoke words in Italian softly.

"Breve vita dalla natura ci è data ma il ricordo di una vita ben spesa è eterna."*

Dario smiled before pulling away and going to greet more of the Bianchi family and to give them his sympathies. The more that he was sympathetic here and giving words to them, the better his relationship with the Family themselves would grow. For it seemed their relations with the opposition was getting tumultuous and the shot fired at the funeral was surely the first of many more to come. A single bullet would soon become a hail and had this been the death at the hands of Enigma, surely, surely the blood that would spill would overflow the banks of the Canal Grande.

Funerals. Charlie fucking hate em. He'd been more funerals in a year than most had in their lifetime, though 'most' didn't seem to apply to the Bianchi family. It wouldn't surprise him if they had a funeral every week. He was donned in a black suit, open and the jacket billowing in the light wind. Eyes never straying towards the coffin, and instead at the people and the surrounding area. It wouldn't be particularly difficult to pull off a drive-by with a van and a few machine guns, but Charlie would surely see them coming in such an open area, no, drive-bys weren't the issue. Just standing in the open field of a funeral reminded him of the Iraqi desert. Then, like De-ja-vu it happened again. The whistle of the bullet passed his ear before the bang that followed. The bullet always hit before the noise, if one of them was wanted dead they'd die before the others heard the bullet. Drawing the M1911 from his jacket he moved in front of Roxanne and the baby, following the rough trajectory of the shot, judging from the hole in the picture. Not a bad shot, he had to admit. Such a small target from so far away. It was no accident that the bullet didn't hit anyone, it was a warning. We can hit you anywhere.

Charlie looked off to the bodyguard handing out shotguns with a groan. Yeah sure guy, give the criminal attendants to a funeral guns whilst they're panicked. Fucking genius. That was just one of the points he was about to bring forwards, as his car pulled up outside the manor, Roxanne and Rose in the back. He was deathly silent, and he didn't let anyone else in the car, not even a second bodyguard. It was safe to say he was more than a little pissed off. Mark had cocked up, he failed to set up a perimeter far enough out. It was practically public knowledge where this was being set up. It was common sense to post counter-snipers for such an open ceremony.

He walked in near-enough last. Charlies eyes drifted to the pieces of inconspicuous furniture, and silently judged one of skinny-lamps clothing choice. A fucking hoodie. Looking to Roxanne talk about Mark he spoke up. "I'd like to request Mark is no longer put on that duty.. That mess back there was only a fraction what it could have been. It wouldn't have been much more difficult to set up 20 snipers instead and take us all out simultaneously." He looked to Delilah, then back to Roxanne, before addressing everyone else. "If there's no complaints, I'd like to take over. I'm sure no-one will doubt my record." This was evidently directed towards Morganna. He thought he'd finished but continued once more. "I'd like to review the guards of the manor and play a role in hiring them. There was the incident with Tom, and another guard was handing out guns at the funeral to..." He turned to the furniture. "I'm sorry, who're these two?"

Woe
IT'S ME THE END IS NEAR THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER LEAVE HEART AND TEETH JUST TO TASTE THE BITTERSWEET ONE LAST STAIN TO GET BENEATH THE SKIN
Hector's sheer reluctance of attending the ceremony had mostly detained his attempts to sympathize, or stay relevant between whatever matters he could possibly participate in. Flaws of his commitment to the mafia were starting to be rather conspicuous, and more so if the godmother had been paying close attention to Hector's indifference towards Shaun's death. He respected him, until he could no longer furnish the Bianchi's long reign of intimidation across the whole of Chicago. It was always Hector's main agenda to follow and admire the ones with sustainable power until they could no longer wield it. And for when they fall down and lose their grip of the power they bear, Hector would come and pick up whatever was left of them. He had yet to figure out what he was going to scavenge out of Shaun's distant legacy - whether or not he had one would still be determined.

Dale was kind enough to give him some sort of entertainment during the ceremony. Every time the program transitioned, he would tell jokes extracted out from Japanese philosophers, most of whom fell entirely unfamiliar to him. Hector was also kind enough to laugh since he didn't have a choice and the burial was becoming dreary for him to shed a single tear of false consolation. "Patience is always the key." Dale would tell him, once after he noticed Hector's obvious hesitation. It wasn't just for the sake of blabbering out overused quotes. Hector knew what he truly meant which slightly surprised him given how unpredictably observant the former yakuza had been lately. "Let's say you're becoming predictable the more you become impatient. Don't let your irrational emotions give a picture of what you are towards your enemies." Hector nodded to that, considering it as a practical advice he rarely got from anyone.

When it was all over, relief rained down on him. Hector paced towards Delilah, giving her his usual courtesy and a sincere apology for which he would never expect any forgiveness. He had important cases to attend, places he needed to be present at and most of all, a meeting he had been plotting for weeks. Perhaps Dale was right. The only way he could screw things up was to be obvious on what he would actually be doing.

As mostly everyone departed towards their own designated businesses, Hector waved the godmother goodbye before he got inside of his car. Engines started to kick in once Dale placed his newspaper down.

"Remember that every action you take will not grant you immunity to any consequences." Dale mentioned, his Japanese accent intercepting between his intonations.

"I know Dale," Hector glanced at the window, observing each and every person they've passed by as the vehicle drove towards the narrow road. I know...

Well it's midnight, damn right, we're wound up too tight I've got a fist full of whiskey, the bottle just bit me.

ADIANO BIANCHI

He glanced around, Bianca was here. Adiano sighed. Bianca was family, yet there were times that he felt so distant that his Irish side seemed to take over. She was still someone he needed to get to know better, though, the only option that Adiano saw happening was that he took her shopping.

Adiano stood by, as people came to say their condolences. He tried to pull off his sad look but instead, he continued to wear his sunglasses indoors.

Taking a look around from the sobbing of Bianca, it was a somber event aside from those that had donned a hoodie. A small smirk crawled up his face as he watched the two carefully. Charlie - the bodyguard - had approached the two, so he left them to it.

Another sigh as he turned back towards Bianca, trying to pull her into a gentle embrace to save the other sod who had to bare the brunt of her false efforts of crying.

"Non si sa cosa sta succedendo intorno a voi? (Do you actually know what is going on around you?)" Adiano softly spoke, giving her a pat on the back. That was what people did, right?

DELILAH BIANCHI

Pull the Plug
Putting family in the ground since I exist
Counting on her family to pick up the pieces whenever she fell was not an option. And she stumbled a lot lately. She made mistakes, and this was only a living proof that the great Delilah Bianchi was thrown off her tall thrown, shook by the events and barely holding upon her power. This was the ultimate blow, the ultimate bullet in her hide. It appears everyone makes mistakes, even the powerful ones, and perhaps their mistakes, as small and insignificant as they may seem, simply blow up like a spec of sand in a grand and complex machine. Her mafia just hit the lowest point since the death of her father, now it's time to get back up.

Her sister ROXANNE BIANCHI was one of those who picked up the pieces that fell from her and didn't forget who they were. She honored their brother's memory, even if it meant lying ever so slightly. Not everyone needed to know the horrors of one dead before their feet. Even when the bullet flew, her sister didn't lose control and ordered the protection of the Godmother, as she brought herself and her young daughter's under cover for more bullets to fly. None other came, and that was something Delilah knew. It was all a great scheme to call off the truce and warn Delilah this war wasn't over. She pulled off a merciful Deus Ex Machina on Ryan, that Enigma murderer who got her brother. At the time she freed him, she did not know Shaun would never walk out of his hospital bed, maybe then her reaction would have been far different.

---------

Tempering with her capability to remain stone hearted and show no emotions or weakness in her posture, expression or eyes. She succeeded for all of them, except for the later. Her eyes could show the pain and anger, but also the boiling river of thoughts going through her mind. She was not resting her mind yet again. Troubled by her own functioning mind that never ceases to work. People came to pay her respects, and each time one of them came to her, she listed their apparent loyalty, wondered if they were indeed that loyal, and finally added them to her grand scheme of plans. She stayed mostly silent during the hushed down procession of people in her manor, coming to her living room to quote "mourn her brother with her". She knew all of them were here only because they were expected to. Very few would actually mourn her brother, she wasn't that stupid.

HECTOR CAIN came by earlier to pay his respects, but he did not remain in the manor like she wished he had. He was one of the rare people she would have actually wished to keep close and speak with about what happened, but it appears he had other priorities. In other circumstances, Delilah would have held it against him, and she did but in a different way. Where was he going so hurriedly to escape this all? No one seemed to know, and perhaps it will require an enquirer later on.

Her sister already complaining about the fact that there wasn't that many guards at the funeral but not questioning why it was so. Delilah took that decision herself, purposefully to avoid attracting too many journalists and have a funeral like those you could have in small towns back in Italy. Trying to make it more familial and less high end security mafia gathering. Yes even Delilah sometimes wants normal to take a breath of fresh and healthy air. She ignored her sister's tantrums about security and whatever other people had to say about it. They could get security higher right now if they wished to do so, she wasn't going to put an opposition to it right now. In fact it was probably a better option since she did receive an open threat from Enigma.

DARIO DELL'CIELO came as well to give his respects, and in a more actual Italian fashion Delilah respected and appreciated. She nodded, appreciating the man's gesture. He was a dedicated member of the family so far, perhaps he could get a bigger role in the events to come. And he wasn't alone in that boat. Adiano had been more than helpful and reliable for someone who had lost her trust last year after the harbor was bombed. She believed he could still be a good link in her family, and she was ready to give him a little more power. They will need the weapons in the weeks to come. She walked up to ADIANO BIANCHI, and simply spoke in a whispering voice, filled with composure. "Be prepared to get back in business. I will be expecting flawless negotiations on your behalf. Get in touch with CHLOE KEEGAN as well. Do not disappoint me" she ended her talk, seeming almost detached from the conversation at the end of it and moved away from Adiano. Like a predator prowling on preys, she moved to people, letting them know she wasn't asleep just yet.

She eventually sat in a seat, one of the most comfortable ones and invited everyone to do the same. She then measured her words before speaking loudly enough for everyone to hear, steady in her words. "As you all know we are here to mourn my brother, and we can all do that once i'm done." she paused, her hands on her crossed legs, her fingers caressing the rim of her mildly long black dress. "You are all aware that I made a mistake, letting Enigma away at the theater. I made a compromise, a truce against their prisoner and peace for both sides." she made another pause, resumed a moment later with a looming threat in her tone. "I don't want to know how many of you think I've gone mad for taking that decision. Nor do I wish to see any of your deserting for one mistake. But I don't think I need to remind any of you about that last condition, correct?" it wasn't a question she was expecting an answer from so she resumed her talk. "Enigma still poses a threat and they made it clear today. Don't go buy a ticket for vacation yet" she got up and raised a glass to all. "To Shaun, my brother, and may what happened today make us stronger as a family." none of these people were her family except for Roxanne. They could all die tomorrow that she wouldn't care less, but they were still vital to her mafia and she will need them to stay alive to keep Enigma away.

She would then retreat from the party, whispering a few people to meet her later in her office. She needed her most important members to reunite and find a solution for this threat that was Enigma, and start up this train that will drive over all of those rats and wreck their ranks once and for all.

She actually agreed with Charlz about a lot of things, including the fact that Mark was not up to his best lately. Mark, in general, was no leader but he had been with Roxanne for years and she appreciated loyalty over a lot of other things. That's how her dad did business and that's how she tried to emulate it.

She eyed the man who wanted to take over. She remembered his hiring process and the fact that till now he was being a loyal, smart and mess-free asset. He also was not afraid of her and that was not something she could fully say about Mark. And Roxanne thought it to be critical that security would have their own mind and not follow her like a bunch of blind puppies. At the same time, he was arrogant enough to ask for things while she was talking with her sister. And if there was to be an arrogant person in this room that title should go to Roxanne, not some bodyguard. That alone was a reason to deny his request. Just like Delilah always did - she never gave things to people that wanted them, teased them, promising to deliver when they'll be ready. And they never were ready. That was Delilah's way of doing things. And Roxanne wanted to be anything but sister, she wanted to be better than her sister. The Bianchi.

There were guns being handed out at funeral?! Delilah! Are your people fucking mad?! Charlz, find new personal bodyguard for Rose as soon as possible and take control of manor's security. And Delilah is not leaving manor without being surrounded by guards from now on, she murmured, She can kill me later for that. Roxanne looked around, Give mea list of people who were responsible for security today by the end of tomorrow. I'll shoot them personally. She did not bother to hide her ways and left Charlie to deal with bad dressed Delilah's people alone.

* * *

One thing Delilah forgot to mention to her lovely younger sister was the purpose of evening in Chicago Theater. She also forgot to send invite to her lovely sister. So Roxanne was completely unaware about things Delilah were talking about. She snapped her focus on Delilah the moment she started talking that she had Enigma in her hand and let them go, What the fuck are you talking about? said Roxanne in a low tone, feeling like her internal alarms start flashing lights and make high-pitched sounds. But Delilah did not bother to comment her question, so youngest Bianchi got to drink for Shaun's memory and leave questioning Delilah to later time, even though her tone during the toast was pissed off and full of hidden anger, "To the bloody family."

As Delilah was gone, Roxanne threw her glass into the fireplace, not holding back her emotions anymore. Fucking bitch, she could have wiped them out, but no - she had to play her games again. She did not care who hears her.

MORGANA ASHFORD

the sacred and the profane

W
hat an unholy shitshow. Morgana's only relief was that she wasn't directly responsible for the cascade of mishaps that had happened today. But she WAS late to the funeral. And with Delilah insisting on an old fashioned, low-key family affair, Morgana didn't see any reason to personally pore over the meager security before the event.

Although passing out bloody shotguns at the event was as good a reason as any. Who DID that? Yes, nothing like a bunch of weapons designed to punch indiscriminately into anyone nearby at an event with all your blood relatives.

She wanted to scream. That wasn't Bianchi behavior. Or the behavior of any organization of any competence. It was more something the shit gang of robbers did near the middle of a bad movie before they got killed.

How had it gotten here, gotten this far, gotten this bad? A great deal of this situation needed - NEEDED Morgana to do nothing. And that wasn't solely her fault. Plenty of people here were working diligently to tighten her leash - friends and enemies alike.

"I need, I need to ask you something. Has anybody -"

"No, Lara. Just... do yourself a big favor and shut up for the entire day."

Morgana paced the manor, squeezing the gunshot picture of Shaun in her pocket.

God, what an idiot. He was a tremendous, reckless, boorish idiot, and Morgana was in constant fear that he'd take over somehow and get them killed by the bundle. But he was technically speaking, their idiot.

Delilah's idiot, anyway.

And while she didn't think he was cut out to be leader of a family... or really leader of anything...

She had her own brother, a man far from suited for criminality. She thought about how far she'd go if someone even breathed wrong in his direction. How crazy she'd get. And well, there was no need for her to GUESS about that, was there?

Morgana was sort've honor-bound to keep the family's current status quo intact, wasn't she? And it didn't make any decent sense for her to tell them what to do with Shaun's horribly mangled body. Not that she didn't have her own opinions.

Compost.

Halloween Decorations.

The world's most hilarious selfies.

A low quality remake of Weekend at Bernie's.

But none of that, tragically, was meant to be.

Delilah seemed shell shocked and toothless today, more than anything else. She was in a daze, or juggling her own thoughts, when asked to give a eulogy that seemed more like a terse sort of snarling at the world than an actual remembrance of the man. And that was before the shooting. She hadn't improved much afterwards, either.

Morgana walked the halls, ignoring Lara and resisting the urge to send her away entirely. She entered just in time to see the toast, a few terse words from Delilah, and Roxanne's entirely predictable tantrum. She cleared her throat.

"As of right now. Do we have evidence that Enigma is responsible for this shooting? And if so, how high up it comes from?" Or is this what we are now?" She clapped her hands and looked around the room, assessing the current state of things. "Emotional. Angry. Easily manipulated. Jockeying about for one position or another."

Didn't Machiavelli write about truces with your enemies, letting them recover their strength? She'd gone through all of this trouble to have tactical superiority, to have moral superiority, but what was the point of hiring all those men, buying all that security, preparing so many eventualities... to do a hostage exchange and secure a little temporary peace?

There was the police, the city, internal politics of war - and those were all things that could destroy them - destroy her, more specifically. So if allowing Enigma to exist was mitigating a risk... if THAT was the case, the calculus hadn't changed. They'd been threatened. Right. Humiliated. Right.

Well, that was what peace was - enduring humiliation to spare yourself bloodshed. Did these girls think that only applied to the weaker party?

"And if they were. And they probably were... can someone explain to me what that changes? Have we all decided they violated this truce for the... the bloody comedy value? And God help whoever answers these questions with a who cares. Because you should."
